Yesterday, a publishing partner released an announcement that further strengthens the bond between them and those of us who are retail members of GAMA. So as not to put words in anyone's mouth, let's just quote that announcement in full here.
IELLO has partnered with GAMA to provide an exciting opportunity for you. For the FIRST TIME, GAMA retail members will have access to one of our new releases TWO MONTHS in advance of the normal street date.
We’ve chosen Decrypto (http://iellogames.com/decrypto.html) as this early release title! So for you participating retailers, you'll be able to sell this game beginning Feb 22. Otherwise, Decrypto will release on April 19 (brick-and-mortar) and May 3 (online).
To make it easier to track, we ask that you request your copies through this form (https://goo.gl/h5y7AV). We’ll pass on your numbers to your preferred distributor, then they’ll confirm your order.
There is no cap on the quantity you can order. However, if you order at least 12 copies, you are eligible to receive a Demo Night kit that includes a demo copy of Decrypto, a poster to advertise the event, and 6 promo card packs (a solo/co-op variant designed by Rob Daviau).
We’ll close this form on January 31 at 5 p.m. PST, so we have time to confirm with distributors before shipping out product the week of February 5.
This is the level of support for retailers that makes IELLO a preferred partner in my business. This level of support for retailers is why IELLO takes up space on my shelves, and my demo tables, at all times. This willingness to try something new to better support our trade organization is what makes IELLO an important partner in my business.
Since I joined the Retail Division Board last March it has been my privilege to tirelessly work with our publishing partners on ways which retail and publishing can better service one another, and this program is one of the things that I'm honored to have put my fingerprints on. Working with the GAMA office and various publishers we created a program through which you will see other release schedules like this one, from other publishing and manufacturing programs. Stephan at IELLO was the first to embrace the idea though, and is out here as the test case for this program even before we return to the GAMA Trade Show and fully announce the program and who is participating. As his friend and colleague I applaud him for this, and as a retailer I will be supporting him, and others who have joined us in this program, with everything I can muster for them.
Look at those dates retailers. We're not only getting a 56-day head start on retailers who aren't members of GAMA, but we're also getting a full 70 day head start on the online sellers! That type of support for us, in an industry where Kickstarter and deep discounters are the norm, is absolutely unheard of and deserves our support. Supporting this program, selling these games, gives us each a competitive advantage over non-GAMA members and further rewards our faith and dedication to our great organization.
Supporting this one is even easier though. Have you seen it?
Decrypto is an amazing game! It's easy to pick up and learn, it's easy to demo to your clientele from your demo tables in under two minutes, and it's both a raucous good time, and requires some thought. The price point of $20.00 makes it a perfect gift recommendation, an affordable party game for people looking for that "something new" for their game nights, and an amazing impulse buy, because $20.00 is where customers are willing to take a risk, because even if it stinks it was only $20.00.
This doesn't stink, and Stephan and IELLO leading this charge is amazing. I hope you'll all join him on this, support the ever-loving heck out of this product.
Programs like this continue to add value to GAMA, a value that I have always found already just through the educational offerings of the organization. I've already seen some complaints about other organizations being 'left out', and people asking if this will be available to them through whatever that other organization is.
I would recommend those people join GAMA though, because this is not the only announcement of this type you will see in 2018, and as this program gains momentum and proves that it moves volumes of product, I will continue to poke, prod, and push those publishers I want to see involved in this. This program proves to me that publishers value retailers, and I am excited for the other upcoming announcements, and to provide support to those companies that provide support to me.
For those of you who are not members of GAMA, I think that you will soon discover these early releases will pay for your GAMA membership pretty quickly. When you've sold your first twelve copies of Decrypto you've already pretty much paid your membership dues...so I'd be thinking about it.
There's also this cool Decrypto demo kit with promos. :)
Support this product! Support this program! Join GAMA!
And oh, Stephan, if I haven't already e-mail you yet.
